2025 Heart Women’s Soccer All-Conference Teams and Post Season Awards Announced
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – With the Heart of America Women's Soccer Conference Tournament beginning on Wednesday, the Heart of America Athletic Conference has announced the 2025 Heart Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams and Postseason Awards.
The All-Conference teams and postseason award winners were voted on by the Heart of America women's soccer head coaches.
2025 Heart Co-Player of the Year & Offensive Player of the Year – Mariana Barreto – Central Methodist University
Barreto scored a total of 23 goals on the season with 19 of those goals coming in conference play. The also tallied four assists. She scored in 12 games, collecting four hat-tricks on the year.
2025 Heart Co-Player of the Year & Defensive Player of the Year – Marta Carrasco Mesa – Missouri Valley College
Carrasco Mesa started all 17 games that she played in this season, leading the Missouri Valley defense which gave up just 15 goals on the season. She helped the Vikings to an undefeated season at 13-0-4, while also scoring four goals and added six assists.
2025 Heart Coaching Staff of the Year – Dan Schmidlin – Central Methodist University
In his 18th season as head coach of the Eagles, Dan Schmidlin and his coaching staff led Central Methodist to an overall record of 14-1-2, while going undefeated in conference play at 12-0-1 to win the Heart of America Regular Season Championship.
2025 Heart Newcomer of the Year – Rieke Protze – Central Methodist University
Protze started all 17 games she played in throughout the 2025 season and helped the Eagles to an undefeated record in conference play. She anchored the backline which allowed just 13 goals and compiled nine shutouts on the season.
2025 Heart Freshman of the Year – Tindra Jarl – MidAmerica Nazarene University
Jarl started and played in 16 games this season, racking up 11 goals and three assists. She scored three game-winning goals, scoring in nine different games. She scored two goals in a single game twice this season against Benedictine and Culver-Stockton.
