Heart Announces First Women’s Basketball Players of the Week of 2024-25

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its first Heart Women's Basketball Player of the Week awards, presented by WinWon of the 2024-25 season on Monday.

Ella Larsen of Grand View University was named the Heart Offensive Player of the Week, while Sydni Morris of Clarke University was selected the first-ever Heart Defensive Player of the Week.

This is the first season in the history of NAIA and Heart basketball that there will be a student-athlete awarded with the Heart Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week award.

Morris made that history after leading Clarke to a 69-56 road win at Waldorf (Iowa). The sophomore recorded her second-straight double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds. She also had a steal and a blocked shot.

Larsen and the Vikings went 2-1 last week, with their only loss coming against defending NAIA National Champion, Dordt (Iowa).

The senior averaged, 21.7 points per game in those three contests, scoring 30 points at Tabor (Kan.), 13 against Dordt and 22 in the win over Northwestern (Iowa).

Larsen shot 41.2-percent from three-point range on the week, going 7-of-17 and shot 14-of-15 from the free-throw line, good for 93.3-percent.
