Two First Time Winners in 2022 Highlight Heart Softball Players of the Week
The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart Softball Player of the Week award winners on Monday, as Central Methodist University’s Madison White captured her first Heart Player of the Week award of the season and Missouri Valley’s Kim Horsten also picked up her first Heart Pitcher of the Week honor of 2022.
The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart Softball Player of the Week award winners on Monday, as Central Methodist University's Madison White captured her first Heart Player of the Week award of the season and Missouri Valley's Kim Horsten also picked up her first Heart Pitcher of the Week honor of 2022.
White and the Eagles earned three Heart sweeps last week, as they swept Park, 14-1, 11-5, Clarke, 7-1, 6-3 and Mount Mercy, 1-0 and 8-0.
For the week, the Columbia, Mo., native hit .632 with 12 hits in 19 at bats. She also knocked in 10 RBI's, had four doubles, three home runs and scored 10 runs.
Horsten earned four wins in the circle last week and recorded three complete-game shutouts. She struck out 24 batters and walked none in her 19 innings of work.
She also helped Missouri Valley set a new Heart conference record for consecutive scoreless innings at 36.2 innings.
