Heart Game of the Week Recap: No. 3 Park vs. No. 5 Missouri Valley

Saturday afternoon featured another nationally ranked Heart men's volleyball matchup as No. 3 Park defended its home court with a 3-1 victory over No. 5 Missouri Valley in Parkville, Mo., in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Game of the Week presented by Olathe Chamber of Commerce.
Park secured the four-set win by scores of 25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 25-22 in a competitive matchup between two of the conference's top programs. The Pirates took control early by claiming the first two sets before Missouri Valley responded with a decisive third-set victory to extend the match. Park regained momentum in the fourth set and closed out the contest to remain unbeaten on the season.
The opening set featured a tightly contested start, with both teams trading points through a 10-10 score. Park eventually created separation with a mid-set run and maintained the edge down the stretch to claim the set, 25-22. Facing a two-set deficit, Missouri Valley responded in the third with one of its strongest stretches of the match. The Vikings quickly built a sizable advantage and controlled the set throughout, pulling away for a 25-16 win to force a fourth set. In the final set, the teams again battled through a competitive opening stretch before Park used a key run midway through the set to move in front. Missouri Valley attempted to rally late, but the Pirates maintained their advantage and closed out the match with a 25-22 set win.
As a team, Missouri Valley recorded 12 total blocks while continuing to pressure Park at the net throughout the contest. The Pirates responded with efficient offense and timely scoring runs in key moments to secure the victory.
With the win, Park improves to 21-0 overall and 13-0 in Heart conference play. Missouri Valley moves to 14-2 on the season and 8-2 in conference action as the Heart schedule continues to feature high-level matchups between nationally ranked programs.
