William Penn Sweeps Heart Men's Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart Men's Outdoor Track & Field Weekly awards on Monday afternoon.

William Penn University swept the awards this week, as D'Artagnon Beaver was named the Heart Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and teammate Xzavion West was named the Heart Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Beaver broke the William Penn school record and hit the NAIA 'A' Standard of Qualification for the NAIA National Championships in the 3,000m steeple-chase with a time of 9:10.35 to place third overall at the Drake Jim Duncan Invite.

West won the men's hammer throw at the Grinnell Dick Young Invite with a toss of 56.80m, placing first out of 31 total athletes.

With that throw he hit the NAIA 'B' Standard of Qualification for the NAIA National Championships.

The junior also placed fourth in the shot put and 11th in the discus.
