Lopez, Whitehurst Capture Heart Baseball Weekly Awards

The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced its Heart Baseball Weekly awards on Monday afternoon.

Gavin Whitehurst of No. 21 nationally ranked Central Methodist University was named the Heart Player of the Week, while Luis Lopez of (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene earned the Heart Pitcher of the Week.

Whitehurst, was white hot in the Eagles series against Missouri Valley, as he hit .846 on the week with 11 hits, with three home runs, a triple and a double and knocked in 12 RBI's.

Lopez recorded a four-hit complete game shut-out with 11 strikeouts in a 6-0 win at Graceland last week.
