Heart of America Athletic Conference Adds Women’s Flag Football as Championship Sport Beginning Spring 2027
Overland Park, KS – The Heart of America Athletic Conference is proud to announce that Women's Flag Football will officially become a conference championship sport beginning in the Spring of 2027.
The Heart's expansion in women's flag football includes Baker University, Graceland University, and William Woods University, which have previously competed in the sport, along with new program announcements from William Penn University, Missouri Baptist University, and Missouri Valley College.
"The momentum behind women's flag football is undeniable, and the Heart of America Athletic Conference is excited to be part of that movement. By elevating it to official conference sport status in 2027, we are embracing innovation while staying true to our mission of delivering meaningful opportunities and first-class experiences for our student-athletes," said Nik Rule, Commissioner of the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
The addition of women's flag football aligns with the Heart's ongoing commitment to student-athlete opportunity, growth of emerging sports, and increased participation across its membership. The conference will continue working with its institutions on scheduling, championship format, and operational details as the inaugural championship season approaches.
